Negatively portrayed words...

Suicide.
Manipulation.
Insanity.
Death.
Drugs.

Reality.

What is the first thing you think when you see these words?
Your absolute first reaction?

Mine is: "Wow, I'm making this post depressing."

Why is that?
I think it's all because of one singular thing;

Religion.

And not in the sense of the word meaning: To do something over and over until it becomes religion.

I mean it in the sense of God, Jesus, and the church.

I mean, look at the word 'Manipulation.'
My first reaction to that is to cringe, and get angry at the thought of someone fucking with my mind.
Then I think about it.
If that word hadn't been used to describe something horrible to me by my parents, by my shrink, by the church. I wouldn't be having that reaction.
If that word hadn't been so negatively charged, I wouldn't be thinking, "Shit, my brain."
No, I'd be thinking "Yes! I am gaining more knowledge that is therefore changing my outlook on things for the better."

Contemplate it for a second.
Think about it. Really think.
Then, let me know your opinions.

Seriously, M.B.

Religion is a business, and they're advertising your "eternal soul".

We are not fascinated by objects, but the ideas behind them. The words by themselves do not cause any negative emotions or thoughts, it's the idea behind them. Every word is stereotyped. When we speak, we do not use words based on what they mean, but by the ideas they trigger in our mind.

For example: "drop out" translates to us as someone who is lazy, not driven, has no future, probably smokes, will have children early in life, etc etc. In all actuality, a "drop out" means "someone who has left school". What they do once they leave is an entirely different story.
